THERAPIES

At CMC CAMHS - Dubai, we Offer a Range of Effective Therapies,

such as:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps improve a child's moods, anxiety and behaviour by recognising distorted or inaccurate thoughts.

CBT Therapists teach children that negative thoughts cause a result in negative feelings which can influence behaviour. During the Therapy session, the Therapist helps the child learn to identify unproductive and harmful thought patterns, and also learn how to replace those negative thoughts with positive thoughts that result in more appropriate feelings and behaviours. Many research findings confirmed the efficacy of CBT in terms of treating a variety of the conditions, such as depression, anxiety, phobias, low self esteem, and Post traumatic stress disorders, etc.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT stresses taking responsibility for one's problems and helps the person examine how they deal with conflict and forceful negative emotions. DBT can be applied to treat older adolescents who have chronic suicidal thoughts and emotions and constantly engage in intentionally self-harming behaviours or suffer from Borderline Personality disorder. DBT generally involves a combination of group and individual settings.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

IPT is a brief treatment specifically intended to treat depression and other conditions. The therapist focuses on how interpersonal events affect an individual's emotional state. Individual difficulties are enfolded in interpersonal terms, and then problematic relationships are addressed.

Play Therapy

The psychotherapist observes how the child uses play materials such as drawing or games and identifies themes or patterns to understand the child's problems and to help the child recognise, identify, and verbalise feelings. Through a combination of talk and play, the child has an opportunity to better understand and manage their conflicts, feelings and behaviour.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on the hypothesis that a child's behaviour and feelings will improve once the inner conflicts are brought externally. The therapist therefore stresses on understanding the problem that motivates and affects the child's thoughts, emotions and behavior. It can help identify a child's typical behaviour patterns, defences, and responses to inner conflicts and struggles, thus provide an insight to the issues, improve symptoms and enhance the child’s performance, function and quality of life.
