At CMC CAMHS – Dubai, we provide services for children, young people and their families and we cater to a wide range of emotional, psychological and behavioural problems.

We work in an open, co-operative and supportive way with children, young people and their families, agreeing on treatment goals and care plans at each stage. CMC CAMHS - Dubai works closely with families, carers, Schools, the education department, and other private and official services to offer to children, young people and families, such as:

 

• Assessment & treatment of children with behaviour or emotional difficulties, such as individual therapies, family counselling and therapies

• Assessment & treatment of children and young people with severe persistent mental health problems

• Assessment & treatment of children with neurodevelopment disorders

• Assessment & treatment program and support for children and young people with learning disabilities and/or complex health care needs, and for their families

• Family therapy, Education and Support

• Individual therapy for young people to help them understand their feelings better and find new ways of coping

Mental Health & Psychological Assessment

The purpose of the assessment is to build up an accurate picture of your child’s needs. Different professionals provide a range of services, which means the initial assessment may involve one or more professionals.

During an assessment, the following points will be considered (where relevant):

• General mental health symptoms and experiences

• General physical health assessment

• Assessment of the child’s feelings, thoughts and behaviour

• The family relationship and home environment

• Psychosocial assessment

• Psychometric tests & evaluations

• Past history or of a similar experience

• Assessment of general strengths and available support

Neurodevelopmental Assessment

Neurodevelopmental disorders are characterised by developmental deficits that usually show up early in a child’s development, long before the child enters primary school, and can persist throughout their lifetime, such as:

• ADD/ADHD Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

• Autism /Autism Spectrum Disorder

• Intellectual Developmental Disorder

• Specific Learning Disorders: Writing disorder (Dysgraphia), Calculation disorder (Dyscalculia)

• Communication disorder (Language and speech Disorders)

• Motor Disorders

CMC CAMHS - Dubai provides an assessment and management of children with complex neurodevelopmental disorders, which includes:

• General physical health assessment & examinations

• Speech and language evaluation

• Visual and hearing assessment

• Cognition evaluation and learning potential

• Gross and fine motor skills evaluation

The outcome of the assessment should be discussed with the child and family and they will have the opportunity to ask any questions about the diagnosis, possible underline causes and the proposed treatment plan
